Job Description

MRO Business Officer (Invoice Vetting)

Derby/ Hybrid

Full time

Why join Rolls-Royce?

At Rolls-Royce we are proud to be a business that has truly helped to shape the modern world and are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

By joining Rolls-Royce, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.

What you’ll be doing

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team with responsibility for vetting >200 shop visit invoices per month, prior to payment of circa $1 billion per month.  In addition to ensuring effective and efficient invoice vetting, this role is to drive data insights to directly improve shop visit costs.  Furthermore, the role is to support successful claims for charges which are the responsibility of the customer.

At a time when Rolls-Royce is transforming our business performance, this role has the opportunity to make a direct impact to take us further, through a drive for results and strong collaboration across the business.

This is a role for an individual that is looking to build their understanding of, and contribution to, the bottom line through effective delivery performance.  The successful candidate will have a high degree of autonomy in vetting invoices from assigned overhaul bases.  The role also brings the requirement to oversee supporting work done by a Managed Service Provider, to ensure the delivery against service level agreements and timely invoice payment.

Work with us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.

Position Summary

What you will be doing:

  • Pre-checking and post-checking of invoices to protect against cost leakage, and ensure contractual terms are met with joint-venture and wholly owned overhaul bases.

  • Interface with the overhaul bases and Procurement team to resolve issues in support of the above.

  • Weekly governance of delivery output and compliance to payment terms, including the agreement and generation of key performance metrics.

  • Ownership of the Query Management System to drive timely conclusions, ensure data health, and direct future improvements in tool capability.

  • Drive opportunities to increase successful Customer Responsible Charge outcomes.

  • Provide support to a major Cost Ecosystem improvement initiative so ensure value-adding capability is embedded, and to ensure smooth roll-out.

  • Interface with the Off-Wing operations team to facilitate robust cost control within the MRO network.

  • Contribute to the corporate strategic initiative to reduce Shop Visit Cost, through smart data insights (from invoice data), ideas generation, and drive through to corresponding actions to realise the benefit through the existing workstreams.

  • Support and oversee the activity of apprentices within the team.

  • Ensure the enactment of improvements from audit reviews, including compliance to How To guides and Framework Guides.

Position Qualifications:

  • Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent industry experience.

  • Ability to work autonomously, including with external interfaces such as overhaul bases and Managed Service Providers.

  • Demonstrated capability to work with diverse stakeholder groups to achieve successful business outcomes.

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo to improve efficiency.

  • Understanding of the Aftermarket Operations business model; either proven or demonstrated strong desire to further build understanding.

Preferred Requirements:

  • High degree of self-motivation, initiative, and action-orientation. Can-do attitude.

  • Ability to translate data insights into actionable decisions.

  • Strong people skills with proven ability to communicate, challenge, influence and collaborate with stakeholders.

Regional Benefits:

  • Work in a safety-first environment where doing the right thing and keeping it simple are core principles.
  • Join a culture that values making a real difference through your work.
  • Develop your career as a mid-career professional blending technical expertise with strong personal qualities.
  • Thrive in a role that encourages integrity, accountability, resilience, and curiosity.
  • Collaborate and build relationships in a team-focused environment while also working independently.
  • Take initiative, lead, and make smart decisions with confidence and support.
  • Grow through continuous learning, openness to improvement, and exposure to challenging opportunities.

Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
